Collages

My first collage was my impression of the site.  The site was a loud area but yet powerful with these brick urban walls with a potential of growth.

My second collage was on the word strand which meant to me being stranded away and reflecting and gathering thoughts.

 

(Redone Second Collage)The word Strand collage: Which I interpreted as one being alone from a hectic society to gather thoughts, ideas, through relaxation and walking through this strand connection prepared for the challenges that society throws at one.

My third collage was on my program which is a concert hall for musical performance which allows musical artists to perform and connect with the community.  The idea that I  incorporated were the motion of sound and notes that an artist makes to create a body movement for the audience.

1.  Which building typology you are researching?  The Building Typology I’m researching is a Concert Hall

2.  Why are you researching this building typology?  The reason I’m researching this typology is because on my site I would like to create a place where I can bring people together and create a connection with the people of downtown Manhattan.

 5.  What are you goals for working with this building type? The goals for working with this building type is create an atmosphere where people can come to and enjoy performances from musicians or up and coming musicians.

6.  What are the program elements that you see included at this point in your building? (may evolve once more research is done).  At this point the program element I see are an Atrium, Lobby, restrooms, restaurants, bar, back staging, an outdoor public seating, booths, and connection to the York Station subway line.
